Why your AC is blowing mist
Dirty air filters are just one of the reasons why your air conditioner may emit mist when you turn it on.
If the filter is clogged, normal AC water droplets can morph into mist. Dirty air vents also can be so obstructed that they trigger mist from the AC.
Or you may be running the system nonstop at its maximum capability. Some downtime can make the mist problem evaporate (a little HVAC humor there.)
Other causes?
Mist also may have more complicated causes – and more expensive solutions.
• Is the refrigerant leaking?
• Is there a problem with the circuits that ensure proper operation? Maybe you were hit with a power surge.
Don’t let the problem fester. Long term, mist can lead to unpleasant odors in your home or business and signify serious operational issues.
