A tale of two HVAC coils

You will find the evaporator coil with the other HVAC equipment inside your home or business. Its job is to absorb heat and moisture from the air, thus cooling your home.

The condenser coil is part of the outside equipment. It often has aluminum fins that can transfer heat quickly.

Maintenance tip

Replacing either coil is expensive.

You can help yourself by periodically cleaning away dust or dirt that accumulate on the coils and slow operations. Dirty coils can affect the refrigerant and reduce efficiency.

This is another reason to change or wash your air filters when they get dirty. A clean air filter blocks debris from reaching the coils.

In addition, a technician will check the coils as part of a routine maintenance check.
